Help Us Empower Young Voices
Our workshops are mock trials, centred around current affairs topics like climate change, and help children with all aspects of communication. They give children the opportunity to practise speaking, debating, negotiating, critical thinking, persuading and presenting.

Each class receives a course of 4 × 1hr workshops. A minimum of 2 volunteers are needed to deliver each workshops. We provide full training, all the resources and safeguarding checks.
Volunteer FAQs
Volunteers facilitate the mock trials for pupils. Typically you will be working with a class of 30 which is split into 3 groups of 10. You will then help your group of 10 come up with their argments of why the case study is guilty or not guilty.
What do volunteers do?

No! The sessions are designed to help children with their public speaking skills. This is not a legal based workshop. Anyone who needs to speak in interviews, meetings or to larger groups in their work or personal life with have the relevant experience required to volunteer to deliver workshops.

Yes full training is provided. Training sessions last around 45 mins and take place on line. All resources are provided.

How much time do I need to commit?

You need to commit around 45 minutes for the training and then commit to 4 × 1hr workshops. Typically these take place at the same time and day over consecutive weeks or over a half term. We do have flexibility on dates and times depending on your schedule.
All volunteers must complete an enhanced DBS check which is organised by Lawyers4Learners. It takes around 10 minutes to complete the application and 10 minutes for an ID check. You will also have access to our safeguarding policy for more information.
